After successful ventures in Bristol and Spain, ex-Dabbous chefs Ross Gibbens and Michael Kennedy have brought their joint restaurant, Wellbourne Brasserie, to London. And by some twist of fate, they've plunked down right in the middle of a commercial dead zone in White City. It's a shame, because their unfussy French fare wouldn't feel out of place in, say, Kentish Town - it's got most of the makings of a neighbourhood favourite, only without a proper neighbourhood to serve. No matter; for the worker bees in the area, this is the perfect spot for an executive lunch or a little happy-hour action. We noshed on some creamy burrata with shaved white asparagus and smoked black pepper, a delightfully coconut-y grain salad, and some perfectly-cooked mussels with a light vinaigrette. Wash it down with some choice grapes, and round off your meal with their divine dolce de leche ice cream sandwich. You've got it made, partner.
