The Market Porter
The Market Porter is located smack-bang in the middle of London Bridge's commuter badlands, and cuddled up to the tourist-ridden Borough Market, a hotbed for bog-standard boozers with bog-standard food - but this ain't no bog-standard pub. Brimming with authentic character and charm, this spot is a great place to catch an after-work pint or load up on some hearty grub. We went in for the Sunday Roast, whose £17.50 price tag had our expectations lofty - but boy did it deliver. The whole thing came in parts, with slabs of beautifully-cooked lamb, pork and beef rump, heaps of crunchy braised red cabbage, a cornucopia of crispy, golden spuds, and a mound of perfectly roasted vegetables spread across our table - the sight was overwhelming, but we rose to the challenge, leaving so full we could barely care about the new dents in our wallets.
