Like the majority of restaurants on Green Lanes, you'll be visiting Selale for its food, rather than its decor or ambience. Make yourself at home in its cavernous space and order from their extensive Turkish menu. Highlights include the lamb soup for starters, the lahmacun (Turkish pizza) and the classic chicken doner plate piled with salad, bread and dips. The prices are particularly nice here and while we don't agree with favouritism, the extra offerings of bread and the like went down a storm.

Lord knows we love an ocakbasi, and Fez Mangal is the best in the west. Slap bang in the bustling heart of Ladbroke Grove, this is a lively and loud kebab house in the classic mould, with an open grill licking that lamb, beef and chicken - tender cuts that are then supplemented with beautifully fresh salads, soft pittas and subtly flavoured rice. It’s a BYO affair and there aren’t many places to eat this well for so cheap in these ends, hence the queues you’ll spot come Friday or Saturday evenings. But those queuers are right - this one is made for booze-aided meals on the weekends when all that’s on your mind is getting good and full.
Cafe Z Bar
One of the most popular spots in Stokey, Cafe Z Bar takes serious pride in its Turkish tucker. It's best known for its breakfasts, which include a massive choice of egg options cooked with Turkish sausage, feta cheese and other primo additions. In the evening, the menu opens up even more - fish kebabs, Middle Eastern lamb meatballs, and even a range of burgers. They also hold supper clubs some evenings, and live music.
Not the most glam of spots, but Anatolia covers all of the classic Turkish dishes for a decent price. There are daily special stews, but kebabs are the main focus, with lamb and chicken available in Doner, Shish or Kofte. Handy place to pop into for a quick bite, but don't expect anything amazing.
For a Turkish restaurant in one of the main Turkish neighbourhoods in London to be constantly rammed is a good indication of it being pretty special. Gokyuzu is known for delivering top quality dishes, but also for serving MASSIVE portions at seriously decent prices. Can't argue with that. The large mixed meze is ideal for a hungry group, and they also do a range of Turkish pizzas which make a nice change from the Italian norm.
