Roe @ Pop Brixton
If you’re a fan of eating little fishes then Simon Whiteside is your man. Born in a small Irish coastal town then working under the likes of Raymond Blanc, he knows when seafood is fresh and he knows what to do with it. Simon's dishes are seasonal and packed with flavour - he’s not afraid to cover a sea bream with salsa verde or fry it into Kerala-spiced tempura batter. Start with delicate small plates of squid noodles; deep-fried anchovies; or monkfish carpaccio - then move on to heartier mains like spiced pollock with fermented lentils, roast onion, squash and chard. Soak it all up with a hunk of bread and wash it down with a craft beer and you'll soon forget you're in a tiny shipping container in Pop Brixton, a long way from the sea.
