The large Asian diaspora in Peru has led to a truly delicious and distinct sub-cuisine, and Pachamama East is setting itself apart from its two older Peruvian sisters by focusing on these eastern influences. It means treats like sea bass ceviche with wasabi tiger’s milk and seaweed; crispy lamb's belly with sweet green peppers and miso; or going from Padrón peppers to Sichuan fried chicken and back with the different sweets and sours of each cuisine dancing beautifully together on your tongue. It’s a small plate situation where choosing three or four options each is gonna be tough. Especially when most of them are more than a tenner (and some by quite a bit). But of the eight or so dishes we tried, we were disappointed a grand total of zero times, so just follow your heart. The decor is very stylish: dimly lit, plants everywhere and a DJ on a literal podium like he’s playing to an Ibiza super club. But along with the excellent pisco sours, and the price tag, this all makes for what is a good celebratory spot for some of your slightly more well-to-do mates.
