If only every week could begin with alt burlesque body mod shenanigans and end with a queer Jewish rave. The world would undoubtably be a more delicious place to live in. Unfortunately we don't have that privilege, which is why this week you've got to snatch the London scene by the... snatch. Throw some klub kid realness into the mix and you're laughing mate.
The legendary Moth Club is getting turnt and stripped down to its golden drawers for the London Burlesque Festival and this twisted neo-burlesque bonanza.
Master of Ceremonies is none other than the Dauphin of Drag, Mr Alfie Ordinary himself, who'll be joined by some local names on the alt scene, like the face-stapling Smashlyn Monroe and aerial dancer Mariposa Bop. You can expect to feel disgusted, awestruck and turned-on in equal measure. So we’ll certainly be there.
The motto for Butch, Please is ‘Wear what you like. Be nice. Have a good time.’ Now that’s the kind of slogan you want to hear during an election campaign. There will be erotic film screenings and live music in partnership with Kuntinuum, the art salon for queer women and non-binary creatives. It ain’t often you leave the club more woke than you entered, and pleasantly aroused to boot. Can people who don't respect this safe-space for queer women come too? Butch, Please.
Legends of the queer scene, The Glory and Wut? Club have joined forces for a night of high energy house beats and lavish looks. DJ sensation Attack Attack Attack will be spinning the chunes downstairs, Jacqui Potato and Raven Mandella will be showing off their avant-garde fasheeeon upstairs, and Gaff E and Shay Malt will also be there. We want opulence, extravagance, high-fashion and face, face, face, darling - so beat that mug and be ready to Instagram the shit out of everything.
The poptastic drag supergroup, Denim, has already garnered the attention and praise of cool celebs like Florence Welch, Mario Testino, Ian McKellen and Stephen Fry. Catch Denim and their cabaret crew slayin’ the house down with their hilarious brand of girl group on-fleekery this Friday.
Shalom bubbeleh, any plans this Sabbath? The glorious Buttmitvah has very quickly established itself as a staple of the London scene, which isn't surprising really. With three floors of queer Jewish antics, including performances from the bat shit cray Becky Rimmer (deffo her real name) and the Buttmitzvah Dance Crew, you know tonight is gonna get shvitzy af.
