Hey queen, settled back into work yet? We know, it was a struggle, but hopefully you've hit your stride and are ready for some sick events around the scene this week.
One such partay is taking place at the recently relaunched VFD, where the virtues of femme-ness are being celebrated just like they're 'post to be. And let us not forget the return of the Batty Mama. It's all kicking off so get out there and slay!
Sue and Celeste are back again, helping us chortle our way into February with another lineup of the fiercest queer comedy talent around. And it is lovely to see some strong POC representation in the form of BBC favourite Mawaan Rizwan and writer Shazia Mirza. They'll be joined by Jim Lavender and Amy Annette for a few lolz.
Time to serve your best Rocky Horror realness as RVT brings the queer cinema classic to life. And it'd be rude not to strap on some stockings and garters for the occasion, right? Warm up those vocal cords so you can sing along to the Time Warp with Two Box Production's cast of wonderful weirdos.
Take a bite of the apple, you saucy sinner. Pussy Liquor is back to help 2018's fall from grace along with some Garden of Eden inspired gayhem. The queer cabaret staple will have its usual accommodation of performances, music and debauchery - due, in no small part, to the most devilish queen of saints, Virgin Xtravaganzah.
Can the Batty Mama do no wrong? We thinks not. She brings it to you every time without fail - and this one will be no different. The freshest hip hop, RnB and dancehall riddims, performances by the sickest queer POC talent in the city, art installations, games, vogue tunnels and the electric slide - look guys, it's just everything you want from a night out.
With the relaunch of VFD as a much needed femme-centred events space comes the inaugural Femmetopia, where you can abscond from a dystopian world rife with patriarchy to the paradise of... well, a basement in Dalston. Performance art combined with some fantastically femme DJs spinnin' house, disco, pop & 90s garage. Simplez.
