There are treats galore this week darlings, so we do hope you're well rested and ready to get your culture fix. Sink The Pink have got their seasonal theatre shenanigans going on and Fringe! Queer Film and Arts Fest is kicking off, and that friends, is just the crust. You wait till you reach the delicious filling, loaded with aromatic arts and juicy drag morsels. Yum.
The festive season approaches, and that can only mean one thing: a hell of a lot of ridiculous, OTT, campy-as-fuck queer theatre. Taking the reigns of this particular sleigh, Sink The Pink are back with their traditional yuletide run, and it promises to be a spooky one. Nightmare Before Christmas is child's play compared to the terrifying, dragtastic show STP have got in store.
The next dance movement to emerge from the States' black queer community has arrived. You've heard of voguing and j-setting, now get ready to get into Bucking. A new documentary about the craze is opening up this year's Fringe! Queer Film Fest and we can't think of a better way to get the party started. The winter months are finally setting in and this cast of fabulous and talented characters is just the spice we need to get us through.
Getting into drag and getting on stage is terrifying for anybody that attempts it, so big up the 12 students who are about to show you exactly what they learned during Michael Twaits' The Art Of Drag Course. The graduates will be showcasing their charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent to a hopefully not too vicious audience at RVT, with each one performing an original solo piece.
The intimate Leyden Gallery space is the setting for this night of immersive art, where each of the artists comes from a non-normative gender perspective. We don't need to tell you how important these kinds of events are in this hostile climate for non-conformers, or how crucial it is that we all get out there and support these stories being told. Sooo... go buy a ticket, ya?
Two years is a long time to wait for anything, but when you're waiting for one of your favourite queer club nights to rise from its hibernation, it's a bloody lifetime. Well, boys and girls and non-binaries - the wait is over, officially. Lemon Juice, the queer dance party that funnels all its earnings into funding art projects, is back with a bang.
