You're standing on the edge of an open plain with five days of hell behind you. It's the weekend and you've got two choices to make. Do you spend your time drinking coffee that gets more disgusting with every sip, eating eggs on toast for £12, and looking at plants for your hallway? Or do you head out to any of the wonderful corners of London to drink and dance like you can actually afford to do it? The choice is yours.
Get ready for a journey through time, space, and neon followed by three slices of Voodoo Ray’s - 'With A Loving Kiss' is making its Dalston debut with SpaceWalk. The theme? A stroll through the cosmos, with a soundtrack of Italo disco jams and funked-out synthesiser dancefloor material provided by Kristy Harper and Nic Fisher.
If Hyponik was an actual living human being they would now be old enough to smoke, protest vote and legally destroy their liver. Yes, they're 18, and for what is the second night in a month-long celebration at Number 177, Hyponik will be inviting DJs Shy One and Naina, as well as Worldwide FM's Tash LC and DJ SagePay for a night of globally spanning club sounds. Come aboard.
Nachtdigital is a very German festival where the music is tough, the vibes are bountiful and every single person is better dressed than you. Now, they're landing on UK turf with a sizeable roster of friends and guests including DJ Stingray, Job Jobse, DJ Dustin and many more for over nine hours of magic.
Here in London, we hold our local legends very dear to our hearts, and Benji B is one of our home-bred heroes - a BBC Radio 1 DJ who, for years, has pioneered underground music from the UK. This weekend he'll be joining house music's one-to-watch Ge-ology and the Worldwide FM founder Thris Tian at Brixton Jamm. Tuck in.
30 years ago the world of music was exploding and a new genre was on the horizon - Techno - which, with help from early pioneers like Mike Dunn, soon conquered the world. Celebrating the beginning of his fourth decade in the game, Dunn - and the London crew Feelings - are literally organising a piss up in a brewery at London Field’s Brewhouse.
The Bug has long been a stalwart of chest-rattling dub and ragga, and he will now be testing the foundational integrity of Village Underground with Pressure, a night dedicated to ‘dub, dancehall, grime and dirt’. MCs Flowdan, Killa P, and Lady Chann will be on mic duties, while Japanese dub maestro Goth Trad and Rinse FM's Grandmixxer will be pumping out full wattage behind the booth.
Amsterdam's Young Marco will be taking the reigns at Bloc for an 8-hour insight into his musical mind. 'Getting Old All Night Long' is the official tagline for the night - we're not quite sure what that means, but expect a heady mix of Italo funk, disco, wonky house and maybe just a few Christmas songs.
It's no secret that we're big fans of Gilles Peterson here at Dojo. His encyclopaedic knowledge of jazz, Brazilian funk, African obscurities, Japanese bangers, and basically everything in-between is unrivalled, so head down to Phonox this Sunday for a full 6-hour masterclass - we highly recommend it.
