The 7th Instalment of Ø: The Last Angel of History
Something slightly different at Corsica with a film and club night to expand those horizons all the way to space, the future and beyond. The night centres around John Akomfrah's 1996 sci-fi documentary The Last Angel Of History - a surreal journey about Africa, history and memory. This is a trip from the margins of black culture to its interstellar heart, as the film follows an itinerant figure from the future sent back to the past (our present) to unearth black culture's speculations about the future, as he comes across Sun Ra, George Clinton and A Guy Called Gerald. It's a pretty seminal piece that creates connections between black culture, outer space and the human condition. And afterwards, there's going to be some music with the lineup still TBA.
