Skate at Somerset House
If you're really good at ice-skating and never get the chance to prove it, boy you must love this time of year. Skate at Somerset House is back once again with its usual icy, slippery shtick. Inside their picturesque courtyard you can skate around and around - sessions last 45 minutes which is ample time in our experience. They pull out the stops here with plenty of stuff going on, including on-ice club nights and après-skate fondues. We suggest you book online for this if you're really keen, or else you might find an icy reception of disappointment when you rock up.

Fernandez & Wells
Bringing Soho to the Strand, this Somerset House branch of Fernandez and Wells offers a place to rest your feet should you ever need to venture into central. Cool interiors, tasty bocadillos (Spanish sandwiches) and a lengthy tapas menu won us over and we’ll definitely be going back for the raclette cheese, served melted over grilled new potatoes and cornichons. We get that there’s a Spanish vibe to the whole place, but they’ve got us dreaming of skiing in Switzerland.
Queen of Hoxton has transformed her rooftop into a wintry wonderland once more. This time round they're embracing the whole Nordic Viking vibe, billing itself as a "Viking feasting and drinking hall in the clouds". Expect the mead to be flowing, cocktails served in horns and bubbling pots of comforting hotpot, stew and goulash. If you're still in need of ukulele lessons, they'll also be hosting them alongside a handful of other workshops.
Hair by Sam McKnight
Having a bad hair day? Well then, this exhibition isn't the one for you. Sam McKnight has been instrumental in creating the most iconic haircuts of our time. He's worked his magic on Lady Di, Madge and every supermodel who's strutted down the runways of London Fashion Week for the past 40 years. This is actually the first exhibition to contextualise the wider cultural significance of hair and the role of the session stylist within fashion. Nicely coinciding with the exhibition he will be publishing a richly illustrated publication packed to the brim with his styling and texts by Tim Blanks, Alexander Fury, Amanda Harlech and more. Expect to see styles commissioned by Balmain, Vivienne Westwood and Chanel.
Vauxhall Winter Village
Want to chill out apres-ski style, but hate the idea of flinging yourself down a frozen mountain on two plastic poles? Vauxhall Winter Village might be the answer - an alpine ski village taking over Vauxhall Street Food Garden this winter. Find fun stuff like a retro ski wear photo booth, a winter sports bar showing winter athletics on the big screen, a fondue lodge, and more. Hungry? Good, 'cause you'll find the likes of City Burger, Ye Olde Fish & Chips, Sweet Nothings, and Souper Soups, alongside a seasonal cocktail menu. Happy hour is from 2pm-7pm - don't forget your baklava.
