Circus and cabaret can either leave you feeling utterly mind boggled and bedazzled, or like that's two hours of your life you'll never get back. This is something Jacksons Lane - Highate's most celebrated art's centre - knows full well, which is why they organise this yearly little ditty where audiences are invited to come witness some rad performances, then decide what they should pay them. We'll be spending our extra dosh on acts like the 'Cocoa Butter Club', a wholesome cabaret night which focuses on celebrating and empowering performers of colour, and 'The Penguin and I', because bringing together penguins and acrobatics makes total sense to us. Whatever it is you choose to see, do remember that performing for a miserable crowd is hard work, and no one should have to work for free.
