If you were to put Theatre on a scale, fancy schmancy West End shows would be at one end and NOW festival would be at the other. This annual happening is all about explosive, wild and strange tales from emerging theatre companies and artists so close to the cutting edge we're a bit concerned they might fall over it, never to be seen again. Five nights a week for five weeks, a double bill of theatre takes place in the makeshift, DIY surrounds of Yard Theatre out in the Wick. Each week finds a different double bill filling the space with shows involving all sorts - from Princess Diana getting her revenge in 2018; to an exploration of dominance and submission; to a surreal account of spending an afternoon with an Amish couple. This is all about seeing something experimental and left-field. Each double bill costs £20 whilst the festival pass comes in at £55, if you truly want to commit.
