Jim Jarmusch Revisited
Jim Jarmusch is the king of independent cinema. Fact. His singular vision has been the antidote to monotonous blockbusters since he came on the scene in the late 70s. The unsung hero of the director's oeuvre, though, is the meticulously selected music - his films have featured everything from madcap jazz, to dusty country and whiskey-soaked experimental folk. Barbican are on the Jarmusch hype and are putting on a two-night musical tribute to the wiley-haired director. Get immersed in the weird and wonderful world of his films by some serious musical heavy-hitters, like Ethiopian Jazz pioneer Astatke, Irish chanteuse Camille O’Sullivan, Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos, and more. Expect the music of Tom Waits, Iggy Pop, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Neil Young, and all your favourite dad bands.
