We love the kick-back feel of a set menu. There is zero choosing angst, no food envy and generally plenty of exiting layers of flavour. That's why we keep our ears to the ground for any whisper of a new one. This little nugget went pretty well the first time round, so they're back for take two in the teeny venue that is Brewery Below on Essex Road. Prepare for seven courses of wild, seasonal, and locally-sourced goods cooked by Michael Thompson and Ollie Downey, both finalists of this year's Roux Scholarship. If Michelle Roux took the time to teach 'em, they must be good, right? Dishes are pretty delicate - think mousse of this, sorbet of that, or cod poached in seaweed with foraged sea vegetables and buttermilk sauce. Seeing as all this is in the basement of Borough Wines, the drinks list ain't bad either. We think you should go for a wine flight and taste your way through the evening.
